Saturday 10th August
Activity: Streets of Galway 8k
This race is in its 34th edition and will see 3000 participants track through the town centre passing most noteworthy landmarks in the city and finishing in the historic Claddagh. 8k is a challenging yet feasible distance and the tickets for participation are still available here. Embodying the motto of the run,”Sport for All”, this event welcomes the friends and families of participants to show their support.
Restaurant/Café: TGO Falafel Bar
Priding themselves on their “ability to provide a healthy and cheap meal prepared with ethics and care”, TGO Falafel Bar is one of our favourite plant-based eateries in the town of Galway! It’s a treasure to find plant-based purveyors in a city-centre location, where you will receive a huge portion no matter what you decide and it still doesn’t set you back a bomb! TGO Falafel Bar gets a big thumbs up from us!
Sunday 11th August
Activity: Festival Of The Sea
This event is located outside of the city but you won’t regret the beautiful drive through Connemara on the way to Cleggan and Claddaghduff. These two quaint towns have come together for the last 42 years to organise a ten-day series of events encompassing every type of maritime event you could ask for. Events include a craft fair, Sports Day Duathlon, arts workshops, live music sessions and a golfing competition. There is nowhere in the world more beautiful on a summers evening than the Connemara coast, this is not to be missed!
Restaurant: The Lighthouse Café
A cosy little café which makes you feel comfortable from the second you step in, The Lighthouse Café is a consistent favourite of ours in Galway. This spot is a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of a busy Sunday in Galway. Weather permitting, they even offer outdoor seating which is just a brilliant opportunity to relax with a coffee and watch the world go by!
This is a fantastic, quick summer salad. All the flavours of a BBQ with the char-grilled vegetables, crispy Beetroot & Bean Burgers and a zingy vinaigrette. Perfect for a light lunch or a side dish.
